Overview
One of the Club’s most beloved distilleries is turning 200, and to celebrate Glendronach has created a can’t-miss malt that’s going to have collectors and Glendronach lovers the world over in a spin.
Crafted by Master Blender and close friend of the Club, Dr Rachel Barrie, The Glendronach 200th Anniversary Edition 14 Year Old beautifully recreates the punchy, rustic depth of the distillery’s modern golden era.
The famed 1980s and ’90s expressions that brought Glendronach back into the Sherry-bomb limelight are evoked spectacularly through a signature maturation in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks. For a proper old-school spin, a small parcel of juicy, jammy Claret casks adds extra notes of plum and remarkable depth on the palate.
Debuted to rave reviews from Members during Dr Rachel’s recent masterclass visit across the ditch in Tasmania, in the glass it’s an unbelievably succulent marriage of fruit (blackcurrant, bramble, dried), velvet-smooth chocolate, caramel and luxurious oak, and it’s exclusive to the Club here in NZ.
As the singular release for Glendronach’s 200th anniversary, it was a real buy one, keep one situation – bottlings from similarly prestigious distilleries like Lagavulin and The Macallan went for thousands at release and have only gone up from there.
Members had access to this era-defining dram for just $195 from Friday October 2nd.
