It was also the first time the distillery had ever filled Moscatel casks, making this the first time Moscatel-matured Glenmo has ever been released.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWhen building the whisky for the Club, Dr Bill drew a selection of casks that worked particularly nicely together, before marrying them with a few casks that had been filled later for balance (and explaining why the label says 13, not 16). He bottled this without chill filtration or any added colour at an elegant 48.2% ABV.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe results are mind-blowing. Glenmorangie’s trademark full-flavoured elegance is on full show, with the lengthy, seven-year secondary Moscatel maturation adding flavours of \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003estrawberry creams\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e, \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003echoc orange\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e, \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eAnzac biscuit\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e, \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ecreamy vanilla custard\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e, \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ebaked apples\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e and \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003edark spice\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e, plus some lovely \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003elight florals\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e on the nose that only Moscatel casks can deliver.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAfter a small sneak-preview earlier this year, the world-first dram is coming exclusively to the Whisky Club as November’s Whisky of the Month from Friday November 6th.
